The Scottish Rite Cathedral was originally built in 1924 as a place of worship for the members of the all-male Peoria Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Within the four-story Gothic-style cathedral is a beautiful stained-glass window, an antique pipe organ and an auditorium that can hold nearly 1,000 people. The cathedral, on the National Register of Historic Places, is located near the heart of the city, less than a mile northeast from the Peoria Civic Center and The Peoria Art Guild.
